Cosmo

Mobility (and the sparkle in his eye) is back!

Our 10-year-old Corgi, Cosmo, was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy (DM) in May of 2024. For a highly independent and spirited pup, this was a truly challenging experience to navigate maintaining his active lifestyle.

His condition progressed fairly quickly in the months to follow. Hydrotherapy and at-home PT proved helpful, but having the support of back wheels from Joey’s PAW was an absolute game changer! We are incredibly grateful for the support of this wonderful organization. Thanks to his new wheels (which arrived within a week of requesting) we’ve seen Cosmo regain his confidence having his mobility back. And the sparkle has returned to his eyes!

We’re dedicated to providing a full and happy life for Cosmo, and hope to make an impact alongside Joey’s PAW with his story.

George

11 years young and mobile again!

We can’t thank you enough for giving George the gift of mobility again. At 11 years old, George’s body has started slowing down, even though his heart and spirit are as lively as ever. Seeing him struggle has been heartbreaking, but your loaner wheelchair has changed everything for him.

The first time George tried it out, he gave us his best “What is this contraption?” look, like a Victorian gentleman encountering a horseless carriage. But after a little getting used to for all of us, he was zipping through the yard, grinning like a dog in a meat market and reclaiming his title as the neighborhood explorer extraordinaire. Watching him rediscover his independence brought tears to our eyes — and a few laughs too, especially when he accidentally tested the "off-road capabilities" of his new wheels.

Your kindness and dedication are truly astounding. Joey’s PAW is more than just an organization; it’s a lifeline for families like ours. George’s wheelchair has given him back a piece of his old self, and for that, we’re forever grateful.

Thank you for the incredible work you do and for helping dogs like George keep their sense of adventure alive.

Pi

A new leg and a new lease on life!

We adopted Pi from a local shelter not knowing her history. But from what we can figure, she was caught in a foot trap and lost her hind right paw and a portion of her leg.

I reached out to Joey's PAW and they were such a blessing and joy to work with! Pi received her new prosthetic quickly and it was a perfect fit. Her first day she took to it well, but by the third day she was scooting around and so happy and excited! It opened doors for her and unlocked a level of gratitude in a dog like I’ve never seen before.

Her prosthetic has also helped her elbow dysplasia and spine by aligning everything. Previously, she had to curve her spine and bow her elbows to relieve herself or climb. Now Pi runs and jumps and is the happiest pup on this earth. I can’t say enough good things about Joey's PAW and Tanya. This is a wonderful non-profit and we are forever in their debt for Pi’s new lease on life!

Nash

Mobile…and happy again!

We cannot express enough gratitude for Joey's PAW and Walkin’ Wheels for the incredible difference they made in our beloved Nash's life.

Through aggressive hydrotherapy and balance ball therapy at Mississippi State Vet Hospital, Nash stayed strong and mobile far longer than expected. Even when he lost control of his back legs, we found hope through Joey’s PAW, a life-giving nonprofit that provided Nash with a wheelchair. This amazing gift allowed Nash to enjoy walks again and receive special attention from friends and curious strangers.

Thanks to Joey’s PAW, Nash was happier, more confident, and lived his days with a new zest for life. It was heartwarming to see how much a wheelchair could transform his experience and how we could educate others about the potential for special-needs pets to lead fulfilling lives. We are forever grateful to Joey’s PAW for giving Nash the chance to be mobile and happy once again.
